Out of the mouth of Albie: A trip to the Plane Museum
I have a lot to tell you! We have been in the UK for bang-on one week. It has been pretty great so far, punctuated by fluctuating bouts of both panic and wonderment. I will share some more soon, but the OCD in me has to finish off telling you about Malaysia first.
We continued to have a great time in Kuala Lumpur – a trip to the absolutely beautiful Islamic Arts Museum for a surprise date with an old high school friend, a dinosaur exhibition, a trip to the top of the Petronas Twin Towers and a visit in the absolute aching heat to the rather dilipidated Royal Malaysian Airforce Museum.
Seemingly forgotten by all but us, we found plane upon plane upon plane. Most had ropes around them, but some of them were open to be climbed aboard. Albie had found his heaven.
To be honest, adult to adult, the whole experience for me was a little underwhelming and a whole lot sweaty. I was pleased to retreat to the hotel room for a regroup and a revive. But when Albie got together his lego and recreated his morning by making his own museum collection, complete with rules about what you can and can’t touch, I knew it had been a pretty wonderful day for him. So, so, so cute. As you can see, he is quite the strict curator indeed.
